Ivy Removal in the Forest
Various volunteer groups have been active throughout Hendricks Park during the late fall and winter months.
Forest groups have begun removing English ivy and blackberry from the area below Fairmount Blvd along the West Trail. Friends of Hendricks Park will soon invest some of your donations to amplify the volunteers’ efforts. This work will result in major improvements to the forest element of the park.
Likewise, dedicated weekly groups have been active in the Rhododendron and Native Plant Gardens — weeding, pruning, digging, and mulching. These efforts are preparing the gardens for the upcoming spring season, clearing new areas, and highlighting existing plants.
