Summer is in full swing at the park. Volunteers continue to weed, mulch and otherwise beautify the Rhododendron Garden on Tuesday mornings and the Native Plant Garden on Thursday mornings. New gravel has been spread on the loop trail around the main lawn, a nice improvement.
Robert Woodson has been hard at work roofing and refinishing the main entry sign. Robert built this and the Native Plant Garden sign. He continues to maintain them as a donation to the park. Thank you Robert!
Nearby Nature held a summer education camp in the Park early in July. The Friends support their efforts with scholarships for students, reducing their cost of participation and making it affordable for more families.
There will be new Free the Forest and Park Tours this fall. Schedules for these events will be posted on the website as the new season approaches.
Have a great rest of the summer! Get up to the park for a nice stroll, especially in the mornings or evenings when it is cool. Remember you are always welcome to join the volunteer groups on Tuesday or Thursday mornings for interesting conversation, while improving the park and making friends.
