| WHAT’S HAPPENING IN HENDRICKS PARK Early spring is early this year. After the recent period of warm weather, many spring blooms have arrived, As shown above, the magnolias are out in force. The various varieties of white, purple and pink flowers can be seen throughout the Rhododendron and Native Plant gardens. In the forest, trilliums are showing their three leaves and three white petals along the trails. You can’t walk far before hearing a spotted towhee, song sparrow, or robin calling. Some of the migratory birds are beginning to arrive, as well. VOLUNTEER The Tuesday morning crew in the Rhododendron Garden and the Thursday afternoon group in the Native Plant Garden have been busy weeding, planting and mulching, sprucing up the gardens after the winter season. Stop by either time to help with the work and meet new and old friends. The Board held a work party in the saddle area of the forest recently to prepare the site for improvements that you, as Friends, are funding and that will be coming later this spring. SUPPORT Your generosity allows us to continue aupporting volunteers, the City of Eugene, and outside contractors in enhancing Hendricks Park. We welcome new memberships and donations at any time. ![]() |
